May 29. Margaret Ann Medley. Complexity shines through simplicity the farther the current takes us. As dialects ease and soften, our thoughts heighten and grow acute. The humidity suffocates our skin and with each breath a driven stroke is stronger than the cooler day before. Expected expectation of routine behavior becomes monotonous, but the sun surprises us with astounding glow as it hides before sleep.

On the Menu: Breakfast- Elvis Presley’s favorite fried banana sandwiches composed of peanut butter, bananas, pitas, and butter
Lunch- bagels, cheese, peanut butter, jelly, sausages, and fruit
Dinner-red beans and rice with pepperoni, cake with crystal light icing
Navigator: Kelsey Bracewell
Leader of the Day: Graham Tolbert
Wildlife Spotting: Hogs, Alligator, and Kingfisher
Miles Traveled: Approximately 25miles from Hancock’s Landing to White Woman’s Point
Highlights of the Day: We ate lunch next to an artesian well. Our original campsite had a NO TRESPASSING sign, and we were forced to move up stream to a beach for the night. Hemingway’s “Big Two-Hearted River” was the point of discussion for our lunchtime lesson in which we related Hemingway’s sense of detail to our personal endeavors on the river. Last but not least, war has broken out between Team Pig Paddlers (Graham, Brian, and I) and Not So Much Team Pig Paddlers (John Wargo, John Greene, and Scott Brown). Last revenge was taken when Not So Team Pig Paddlers woke up to find their kayaks on the other side of the river. BOO YA!!!
